Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has appointed Bernard Chisholm to the post of director of Education and Children’s Services.
Mr Chisholm is currently Head of Children’s Services with the Comhairle.
He has previously worked with a number of local authorities nationally and is a former educational psychologist.
He has held a number of remits with the Comhairle including Head of Primary Education and Inclusion and Head of Education and Resources.
Mr Chisholm replaces Peter Carpenter who has taken up a new education chief’s post in the United Arab Emirates, following a three year stint with the Comhairle.
