The MV Lord of the Isles' has cancelled her first run after returning from drydock.

The vessel replaced her fuel-saving propellers in an effort to improve performance and manoeuvring power.

The vessel arrived off Oban on Monday morning.

A forecast force eight gale, occasionally severe gale nine, has forced her to cancel her sailing to Barra and South Uist.

The northerly direction of the gale - as well as expected 50mph gusts - means very rough seas and a high swell on the route this evening.

Sea conditions are forecast to ease by the time the vessel enters open water after a 6.30am departure from Oban on Tuesday morning.

However, the knock-on effect means the ship will not be in position for the South Uist -Mallaig run in the morning.

Her second sailing on the route also faces potential disruption.
