A Glasgow man tried to smuggle nearly £100,000 of drugs into the Western Isles, a court has been told.

Andrew John Kenny previously pleaded guilty to the offence.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told he was stopped by police in Ullapool before he boarded the ferry for Stornoway.

The 47-year-old was carrying a quantity of cannabis with a street value of £93,590 when he was caught in August last year.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson deferred sentence until next week.

Kenny was remanded in custody until that date.
