An islander who drove a car while unfit through drink or drugs has appeared in court.

David Macleay, of 97 Leurbost, Lewis, was remanded in custody in Inverness after pleading guilty to the charge at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

The 27-year-old also admitted driving while disqualified - having been banned for five years in 2014.

The incidents occurred at the weekend.

Sentence was deferred for reports.
