A drink driver who turned himself into police has appeared in court.
Jamie Maclean of Sheshader, Point, Lewis, admitted having an alcohol reading of 73mcg
against the 22mcg legal limit on 3 January.
Procurator fiscal Karen Smith told Stornoway Sheriff Court that Maclean’s BMW was
seen to skid and spin around, leaving the road around 9.30pm as it approached the
Barvas junction from the westside area.
Attempts to tow it out of the ditch before police were alerted were unsuccessful.
Lawyer Luke O’ Curry said Maclean phoned the police himself which is why they were
on the scene so quickly.
Sheriff David Sutherland imposed a 12 month ban and fined him £600.
