Drink driver is banned

A 36-year-old islander has been fined over a drink-driving offence.

Gary Maciver of 61 Garrabost, Lewis, was also banned from driving for 15 months when his case was called at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

He pleaded guilty to driving with 128mcg of alcohol against the legal maximum of 22mcg.

Maciver also admitted taking a vehicle without consent and also failing to tell police who was driving.

He was fined a total of £600 for the offences which occurred on Saturday.
