A drink driver who collided with another vehicle has been disqualified for five years.
Lewis Gregor Macdonald pleaded guilty to the offence plus a second charge of careless
driving when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.
The court heard the 35-year-old welder - whose address was given as South Dell, Ness,
indicated left to turn into a driveway in Upper Bayble, Point, but slightly pulled
out to the right for what would be a tight manoeuvre on a single track village road.
But a car behind collided with him and Macdonald’s Ford Focus was shunt down the
road for a short distance.
One passenger in the other car sustained minor injuries.
The court heard Macdonald had been caught drink driving twice in the past ten years.
Sheriff David Sutherland imposed a driving ban.
He also placed Macdonald on supervision for two years and ordered him to carry out
180 hours of unpaid community service work.
