A Lewis man has received a two year ban after he was caught driving with excess alcohol.

Lee Mcbratney was also fined £1,100 when he was sentenced at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Mcbratney, of Steinish,  pleaded guilty to having an alcohol reading of 115mcg compared to the legal maximum of 22mcg. He had been driving at Steinish, Sandwick Road , Braigh Road and Melbost.

The 24-year-old also admitted driving carelessly a van at Olivers Brae where he lost control, drove into the opposing lane and collided with  car. Both vehicles were damaged.

He also accepted having no insurance.

Sheriff David Sutherland allowed him a four month discount on the disqualification if he passes a drink drivers’ rehabilitation course.
