A drink driver avoided a jail sentence when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.
Thomas Gibb of Newarthill, Motherwell, pleaded guilty to driving his van with 69mcg against the legal maximum of 22mcg.
The court heard police officers spotted him driving out the the wrong way from Perceval Square carpark in Stornoway town centre in the early hours on 3 September.
His lawyer said he had been working long hours on the island and a collague persuaded him to go for drinks.

He accepted he could face a custodial sentence.
Gibb was banned for five years and fined £1200. he was told he would be jailed if he missed a payment.
