The annual drag races run by Lewis Car Club have generously benefited several island charities.

 

In March, £418 from 2013 event was donated to Lewis and Harris Breast Cancer Support Group, Lewis and Harris Alzheimer’s Scotland, Save The Children, Crossroads Lewis, Samaritans Lewis, Hebridean Mens Cancer Support Group and Action for Children.

 

Then in October, proceeds from this year’s race, held in July at Stornoway Airport, saw the charities receive another £327 each.

 

In total, £5219 has been raised for charity through the two events.

 

Lewis Car Club chair Norman MacLean and club secretary Alasdair MacLeod presented the money to the various organisations.
