Renowned Gaelic writer Angus Peter Campbell and his 17-year-old daughter Steaphanaidh are to launch their new Gaelic books at events in Glasgow this Thursday.

Angus Peter is launching his new novel “Fuaran Ceann an t-Saoghail” (‘The Spring at the World’s End’) which is about an old lady who is losing her memory, while his daughter launches her first-ever book for children, called “A’ Chraobh Beoingeilidh”, which is about spaghetti growing on trees.

Anngus Peter says he is delighted that Steaphanaidh is following in his footsteps. Steaphanaidh puts Enid Blyton down as one of her influences.

She said: “When I was much younger I always loved ‘The Faraway Tree’ by Enid Blyton and always wanted to be one of the characters in the book so that I could visit all the different lands that were found up the tree. Hopefully, other younger children will now enjoy travelling with me to Italy to plant spaghetti trees.”

All the illustrations in Steaphanidh’s book were done by her mum, Liondsaidh.

Steaphanaidh will be reading from the book and talking about story-writing at the Gaelic School in Glasgow in the afternoon and will then join her father for a double launch of both books at the offices of the Gaelic Books Council at Mansfield Street, Glasgow. The event, with music, begins at 5.30pm.
