Do not lose the NHS                        30/8/14

Sir,

Today I cast my Yes vote by postal ballot and I hope it will not be the last time I vote.

About the first time I was allowed to vote was at the last chance we had for an independent Scotland. We voted for it but the goalposts were changed and the majority did not win.

At that time I cast my votes with the Scottish Liberal Party, the first party for independence. Only to be deserted by them as they split to form a pact with the Democrats.

Donald Stewart and the SNP were then my party of choice until I thought that the only way to remove Margaret Thatcher’s legacy and the Tories was to throw my hat in with New Labour.

Boom and bust were a thing of the past bellowed Gordon Brown as we were led down the path of illegal wars by Tony Blair and into the gaping void of austerity.

This was the only time I was represented in the Westminster Parliament. In forty years of voting this is what I got. Certainly not what was on the label!I have now returned to the SNP and I am proud with what they have achieved for Scotland even succeeding with a hung Parliament.

The NHS has saved my life on more than one occasion and I feel I must shout for it as loud as possible. DO NOT LOSE IT. A No vote will certainly mean that.

I can develop dozens of other reasons to vote yes but on this one single issue please, please think long and hard.
