Murdo Alex opened the match for the League leaders: The A Team. He played Ryan and took the first point of the evening. Murdo Alex (135, 121, 3 x 100) beat Ryan 3 – 0 to put the A team in front. Next up for the A team was Willie Reid and he faced Don. Willie (133) increased the A team’s lead after beating Deon (140) 3 – 0.

Jim was the A team’s 3rd player of the evening and he played Gordon. Jim (140, 123, 110, 6 x 100) put the A team 3 – 0 up beating Gordon (140) 3 – 2. Jim’s opening game showed his form for this game hitting 140, 123 and a 110 finish for a 15 darter.

The 4th game had, for the A team, Alex Keiller play the Star’s Jamie. The match score went to 4 – 0 to the A team as Alex (4 x 140, 2 x 100) beat Jamie (125, 4 x 100) 3 – 1.

The final singles game in this match had the A team’s Craig play the Star’s Mark. Mark pulled a much needed point back for the Star after beating Craig (100) 3 – 1.

The Triples game had the A teams Willie, Alex Keiller (140, 100) and Murdo Alex play Jamie, Mark (100) and Gordon. Murdo put the match score 5 – 1 to the A team with his D8 finish.

The first Doubles game had Murdo (116, 100) and Jim for the A team play the Star’s Jamie (2 x 140, 100) and Ryan. The match score went to 6 – 1 with Murdo’s D20 finish. The final game in this match had Alex Keiller and Willie play Mark (137) and Don (100). Don’s D15 finish made for a final match score of 6 – 2.

On the same evening, in the same venue we had Sea Angling B play The Carlton. Heckles was the B team’s first player to the oche where he played myself, John Norman Murray. Heckles beat John Norman (121, 114) 3 – 1 despite my winning leg 1 with a Bull finish. Next to the oche for the B team was Ted, who faced Ruaraidh. Ted (140, 100) put the match score to 2 – 0 after beating Ruaraidh (140, 116) with another 3 – 1 result.

Once again Ruaraidh started well by winning the first leg but went on to lose his game. Wakey was next up for the B team where he played Donnie Heareach. Wakey (4 x 100) beat the Heareach 3 – 0 for a match score of 3 – 0 to the B team. The Carlton would have to pull off a special couple of games if they were to take any points from this match! Babz stepped forward for the B team to play the Carlton’s Kay. Kay (120) took the second leg but Babz (2 x 100) went on to win this game 3 – 1.

The last singles game in this match had Willie Pegs for the B team play the Carlton’s JP. Pegs (140, 106) beat JP 3 – 0 with his score of 106 being his checkout in the third leg. He achieved this by hitting T20, 14 and D16.

With the match score at 5 – 0 to the B team, the Triples had Blondie come off the subs bench for the B team to join Wakey and Pegs to play Ruaraidh, Kay and The Heareach. Blondie’s D16 finish made for a match score of 6 – 0.

The doubles started with Blondie (100) and Pegs play Kay (104) and Ruaraidh. Pegs’ D2 finish increased the B team’s lead to 7 – 0. The match’s final doubles game had Wakey (140) and Babz play John Norman (101, 109) and The Heareach. Wakey’s D1 finish completed the B team’s whitewash of the Carlton, who had another miserable match, despite some good scoring.

The Sparrows game against Rangers Club A was not played. I’m assuming this match was postponed for a reason I am unaware of.

The final match of the evening had Rangers Club B play host to the Golf Club. Gordy Mopp opened this match for the RSC B team as he played Fluffy from the Golf Club. Gordy (180, 5 x 100) won this game 3 – 2 to give RSC B an early lead. Fluffy (140, 118, 3 x 100), who is a newcomer to the league; pulled off some good finishes in both his leg wins. He won leg 2 hitting T18 and D12 for a 78 finish and leg 4 by hitting 20, D20 and D4 for a 68 finish. Impressive finishing for the Newbie!

Derek was RSC B’s next player to step to the oche where he faced Stuart. Derek (3 x 100) beat Stuart 3 – 1 after Stuart had won the first leg. (I know exactly how he felt about that!) With RSC B 2 – 0 up, the third game had Calum play the Golf Club’s Jim. Jim (140, 137, 2 x 100) pulled a point back for the Golf Club winning this game 3 – 1. And guess what? Calum was the winner of the first leg! I see a trend developing!

Ross was next to the oche for the RSC B team
where he faced Daniel. Ross (3 x 100) beat Daniel (125) 3 – 0 for a match score of 3 – 1 to RSC B. The final singles game saw the RSC B’s Innes play Cal. Innes (120, 115, 2 x 100) beat Cal (7 x 100) 3 – 1 despite some pretty consistent scoring from Cal.

The Triples game saw Gordy Mopp, Derek and Innes (100) play Jim, who was joined by two Golf Club subs, father and son 11 year old Ciaran and Sander Peck. Gordy’s D1 finish made for a match score of 5 – 1 to the RSC B.

The first doubles saw Calum and Ross (100) play Phil The Powercut and Jim. Jim’s D10 finish pulled another point back for the Golf Club and a match score of 5 – 2. The final game of doubles saw Innes (100) and Gordy Mopp (2 x 100) play Fluffy and Daniel. Gordy made a match score of 6 – 2 with his D3 finish.
