Itwas followed by the Handicap singles on Saturday. The results were as follows:

Mark was the first player for the Star to step up to the oche where he played the Sparrows Finlay MacIver. Finlay (140, 135, 6 x 100) gave the Sparrows an early lead, beating Mark (100) 3 – 0. Gordon was next up for the Star as he faced Scott MacLeod. Scott (120, 4 x 100) put the Sparrows 2 up after beating Gordon (100) with another 3 – 0 win.

Carlton v Sea Angling B Friday 27th February
Neily opened for the Carlton by playing Wakey. Wakey (140, 2 x 100) made an ideal start for the B team by winning 3 – 0. Neil Clayden was the Carlton’s second player to the oche where he faced Babz. Babz (2 x 140, 2 x 100) increased the B team’s lead to 2 – 0 by beating Neil (100)3 – 0. I, John Norman Murray, was the Carlton’s next player up where I faced Ted Bainbridge. For the first time this season I (100) managed a 3 – 0 win. I believe it was also the first time this season that Ted (125, 100) was beaten by that score. The Carlton then had team captain Ruaraidh Smith play Dave Heckles. Ruaraidh (140, 116, 2 x 100) levelled the match score to 2 – 2 by beating Heckles (2 x 125, 2 x 100) 3 – 1 after Heckles had won the first leg. Kay was the Carlton’s final singles player to step up to the oche where she plated Willie “Pegs” Davidson. Kay (130) put the Carlton in front by beating Pegs 3 – 1.

With the match score at 3 – 2 to the Carlton and three games left, both team’s had it all to play for. The triples had Kay (100), myself and Ruaraidh play Babz, Wakey and Pegs (118). Wakey levelled the match score for the B team with his D7 finish.

The first doubles game had myself and Kay (100) play Wakey (100) and Babz and it was Babz’s D16 checkout that put the B team in front. Neil Clayden and Ruaraidh then played Heckles and Ted to try and secure a draw for the Carlton, It was not to be however as the B team won this game and were victorious with a match score of 5 – 3.

Rangers B v Rangers A
No long distance travelling to a distant away venue for the A team in this match on Saturday! Murdo M was the B team’s first player to step forward to play Ewan MacLean. Murdo (180, 2 x 100) took 3 legs to put the B team in front after scoring his 180 in the First leg. The B team then had Innes M. play Ian “Bananas” O’Donnell. Bananas (180, 140, 121, 2 x 100) levelled the match score beating Innes (134, 3 x 100) 3 – 1 with Banana’s 180 being scored in leg 2. The B team’s Craig then played Stephen O’Donnell and Stephen (125, 4 x 100) put the A team back in front after beating Craig(134, 2 x 100) 3 – 0. Calum was the B team’s next player on the oche and he was up against Kenny “Nini” MacLeod. Nini (100) put the match score to 3 – 1 to the A team by beating Calum (100) 3 – 0. Gordy Mopp was the B team’s final singles player and he faced Ivor MacLeod. Ivor’s 3 – 0 win against Gordy (2 x 100) put the match score to 4 – 1.

The triples game had, for the B team, Murdo M. (126, 2 x 100), Innes M. and Calum play Bananas (123), Stephen and Nini. Nini’s D9 finish increased the A team’s lead to 5 – 1.

The first doubles game saw Gordy (100) and Craig (123) take on Bananas (100) and Ivor (112). Gordy’s D18 checkout drew a point back for the B team. The final doubles came had Murdo M. (123) and Innes play Stephen (100) and Ewan. Innes hit D10 for a final match score of 5 – 3 to the A team. The third such score of this week’s games.

Sea Angling A v Golf Club
This match produced a fairly predictable result with a total whitewash as the league’s bottom of the table club, the Golf Club lost 8 – 0 to the table toppers, Sea Angling A. The only real surprise was the Golf club went home without a single leg win in the entire game. I’ve been there against the same team with the Carlton and it doesn’t make for a fun nights darts! Alex Keiller (2 x 140, 2 x 100) opened for the A team against Eosa Campbell (140) and his 3 – 0 win set the tone for this match. Willie Reid got the same result against Stuart Evans before Murdo Alex MacLeod (140, 135, 100) did the same to Andy MacIver. Phil “The Powercut” Frieslick was next to feel the wrath of the A team as he faced Rory Ferguson (125, 2 x 100). Rory started very well with a checkout of 71 in the first leg. The final singles game had the A team’s Jim O’Donnell (5 x 100) play Daniel Hughes (109).

The triples game had, for the A team; Jim, Rory (100) and Murdo Alex play Eosa, Daniel and The Powercut. Murdo Alex’s 56 finish increased the misery for the Golf Club.

The doubles opened with Murdo Alex (100) and Willie Reid (2 x 100) playing The Powercut (100) and sub Malky. Willie’s D5 finish put the match score to 7 – 0. The final game had Rory (100) and Jim play Eosa and Daniel with Jim’s D2 finish finally ending a very one-sided match. The A teams superb scoring saw a final tally of 25 100+ scores in this match.

Saturday saw Murdo MacLeod win the Handicap singles competition.
