An islander is on trial accused of killing a North Uist man by dangerous driving.

Ivan Macdonald, from Baleshare, died after he was hit by a vehicle while walking home from a dance in Carinish Hall in the early hours of a Sunday morning in June 2013.

The 33-year-old was treated by paramedics but died of his injuries at the scene, some 200 metres from the hall.

Steven Macdonald denies causing Mr Macdonald's death by dangerous driving.

The trial is underway at  Edinburgh High Court this week.
