A Western Isles man has appeared in court accused of killing another islander.

Alick Dan Macleod made no plea or declaration to the charge of culpable homicide during a brief hearing at Stornoway Sheriff Court today.

The 26-year-old of 37 Macqueen Street, Tarbert, Harris, is accused of killing a man by recklessly supplying him with ecstasy in July this year.

It is alleged the male died as a consequence of taking the substance.

Sheriff David Sutherland granted Macleod bail and continued the case for further inquiries.
