The stand-in boss at the troubled Crofting Commission has been given the job on a permanent basis.

The Scottish Government confirmed the appointment of Bill Barron as the body’s chief executive.

He is is responsible for the strategic leadership and overall operation and management of the Crofting Commission, including financial controls.

Bill Barron was taken on as interim chief in October following the departure of Catriona Maclean.
