The Crofting Commission is to receive £300,000 extra more to carry out its work next year.

The increase has been allocated though the recently announced Scottish Government draft budget.

Russell Smith, chair of the Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) welcomed the move.

He said: “Crofting very clearly provides for rural Scotland and it is heartening to see that Scottish Government recognise this and the importance of resourcing the Crofting Commission to do its job in administering crofting.”

In addition Less Favoured Areas will be supported to 100% for 2018 after all, following a change in policy in Brussels.

The Scottish Government has also delayed the reduction of LFASS to 80% for the coming year.
