Crofters are being targeted by fraudsters in the latest scam doing the rounds.
Victims receive an unexpected phone call from a person claiming to be from an agricultural department of the government, advising them that they are due thousands of pounds in scheme payments.
They are told to call another phone number to supposedly receive their payments but are really being set up.
A Scottish Government spokesperson advised: "A potential fraud targeting farmers and crofters has been drawn to the attention of the Scottish Government.
"These calls are not from a government department and this number should not be called."
