A consultation on the Scottish Government’s plans to increase the amount of grant to build a croft house ends on Tuesday.

Building costs have gone up in the 10 years since the latest scheme started.

However, the assistance rates have remained frozen since 2015.

Views are sought over a 30% increase which would raise the proposed assistance up to 28,000 in the Western Isles.

The scheme provides financial assistance for the improvement and maintenance of crofter housing with the aim of attracting and retaining people in remote areas of the Highlands and Islands.
