The body set up to look at alternatives to the council tax is holding a public meeting in Stornoway later this month.
The Commission on Local Tax Reform is exploring different ways for local government funding.
Options include introducing a property or land tax or local income tax.
Similar public events are taking place across Scotland over August and September, with the commission expected to complete its work in the autumn.
