Islanders considering running as a candidate to becoming a councillor can get an insight into the job at a series of information meetings.


The council elections takes place on 5 May with nominees to have the names submitted before that.


The meetings will be held in Castlebay,  Lionacleit, Tarbert and Stornoway in early March.


The information meetings will include a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of councillors together with an explanation of the wider election process.


They will cover topics such as the single transferable voting system, the nomination process, postal voting, polling and count arrangements.
