The Comhairle is to holding a series of budget cuts' consultation meetings throughout the Western Isles.

The council estimates it could face making up to £10 million of cuts and savings over the next two years.

In February, councillors will vote over final decisions on cutting services and reducing department outgoings.

A consultation roadshow in various communities next month will allow people to have their say in the proposed cutbacks and prioritisation of services.

The meetings are part of the Comhairle’s budget setting preparations which also include staff consultations.

Further public consultation meetings may also take place in January.
