By-election to be held for vacant council seat

28 January 2015

A by-election is to be held to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Ness and Westside councillor, Kenneth Murray.

Mr Murray, from Shawbost, died on 23 December. He was aged 64 years.

He worked at the Shawbost Mill as director for 37 years before being elected as a councillor in 2007.

He was re-elected to Comhairle in 2012 when he was appointed chairman of the Environment and Protective Services Committee which also oversees planning applications.

The Comhairle has announced a by-election will be held on Thursday 12 March.

Nominations close at 4pm on Monday 9 February.
