Sir,

Rev David Blunt (Repent of Sin -27.12.14) writes that if Mr McBay’s altruistic approach to life “goes no further in the last analysis it is wholly inadequate” (paragraph 2).

Unfortunately for Rev David Blunt the Bible gives no clear way of saving your soul from eternal damnation though he seems to think that it does – ‘Our great need is to repent of our sins and trust in Christ for salvation.’

As he can see from the quotes below there are different ways in the Bible to save yourself, some of which are obviously contradictory.

As they can’t all be right maybe Rev David Blunt could tell us which are wrong and thus help save the souls of all the poor people who are following the wrong verses of the Bible?

Faith – Mark 16:16 – He that believeth and is baptised is saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (You have to believe and be baptised.)

Works – Matthew 19:17 – And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God; but if thou will enter into life keep the commandments. (Jesus then gives a list of five commandments, v18, so obviously the other five don’t count.)

Grace – John 6:44 – No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up on the last day. (God decides no matter what you do).

Predestination – Ephesians 1:4 – According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (God has already decided).

In the sixth paragraph Rev David Blunt writes ‘The Son of God Jesus Christ is the one Person in the history of this world who has shown perfect love to God and man.’ but unfortunately that is wrong as it contradicts Matthew 15:24: “But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

So for a while at least Jesus did not show “perfect love’ to all men but he changed his mind at some time. Maybe the Rev David Blunt could explain why Jesus was happy for people who were not lost sheep of the House of Israel “deserve to be punished by God in hell for our sins“ whilst He was willing to save others?
