An islander who assaulted a female police officer was been sentenced to a community payback order when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.
Donald Macleod, of 22 Doig Crescent, Stornoway, was previously convicted of striking her on the arm while he was on bail in October last year.
He was given 150 hours of unpaid community service work.
