60 bearers to carry Commonwealth Games baton 25/6/14
Some 60 local bearers will carry the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton the length of the Western Isles on July 8th with community celebration events taking place at Castlebay, Daliburgh, Liniclate, Tarbert, Lionel and Stornoway.
Comhairle Convener Norman A Macdonald said: “It will be a tremendous occasion and I delighted that we have been able to include the length of the islands and to hold community events at strategic locations.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase the islands and have a great time as well. Everyone is welcome at the community events.”
