Coastguard Rescue Service seeks volunteers 25/5/14
Volunteer coastguard coastal rescuers are being sought to cover areas across Harris.
Four people are being sought to bring both the Tarbert and Leverburgh coastguard
rescue teams up to strength while the one volunteer would beef up the Scalpay squad.
Successful applicants will receive training in search and rescue skills as they may
be called upon to search for a missing person, recover stranded animals and generally
back up the emergency services.
The Coastguard Rescue Service is part of HM Coastguard and it uses the skills of
its volunteer personnel alongside other 999 emergency services and rescue services
such as the RNLI, to carry out coastal and seaside rescues.
Information on the role is available on the MCA website here while local sector manager
Carl Taylor is willing to discuss details on the Harris posts via 01851 708454 or
by email to carl.r.taylor@mcga.gov.uk
