A Christmas concert involving people with dementia is taking place at the Grianan Centre in Stornoway.

Also participating in this afternoon’s event will be carers, families and friends of people with dementia.

In addition, the local Stornoway Singers, and people in the community such as MSP Alasdair Allan are due to take part.

Performances of a mix of English and Gaelic songs will include old favourites and Christmas carols.

School children are joining in with many singing Gaelic Christmas songs which organisers say is a good way to promote positive images of people with dementia to young people.

Organising sing-alongs with people with dementia developed from dementia cafés Alzheimer Scotland were running in Harris with support from the Leverburgh Care home and Harris House care home.
