Lewis Independent Christian School has moved into new premises in Stornoway.

Pupils are now being taught in the Cearns Community Centre which is being renting from the Cearns Community Association.

It is intended that the building will still be available for community use and that the upgrades made to the building will be of benefit both to the local community as well as the school itself.

Christian School moves into new premises

16 June 2016

A community open day is planned after planned improvements in the building are completed.

A spokesman explained: “While we were thankful for the previous premises we had use of in Newmarket, they were never ideal for use as a school.

"Our school roll has been increasing over the last few years, and that really put pressure on us to find new facilities to allow for growth."

He added: "The new building offers better classrooms and improved playground facilities.

"In short, it looks like a school, which can only help in attracting new families and pupils to join us as we seek to provide God-centred Christian education in today’s increasingly secularised world. We are thankful to the Lord for his provision.”

An open forum to explain more about the move to the Cearns and the ongoing work of the school will take place in the MA Memorial Hall, Kenneth Street, on Monday June at 6pm.

Pupils will also showcase a variety of their work with the highlight being a play about astronaut Neil Armstrong. Tea and refreshments will be served afterwards.
