I would like to express my thanks to Rev. David Blunt for highlighting the humanitarian catastrophe of abortion is his recent letter.
It is surely beyond dispute that a tragedy of epic proportion is taking place where more unborn children have been killed through abortion than Jews murdered during the Holocaust. The Rev. Blunt highlighted the current rate in Scotland of over 11,000 per year. This is equivalent to 2/3 of all primary school children in the entire Highlands and Islands council area being killed each year.
Its seems to trouble very few that every day in Scotland double the number of children are killed by abortion than those murdered by Thomas Hamilton in the Dunblane Massacre of 1996.
How desensitised we all have become, quite apart from the detrimental health effects, physical and mental, which are unspoken consequences of abortion.
It may encourage Rev. Blunt that the Christian Party is willing to open its mouth for the dumb and defenceless. The Christian Party is firmly opposed to abortion as it is to euthanasia and assisted suicide. Life is a gift from God. We are made in His image and because of this, there is inherent dignity and value in the human person. Our failure as a society over recent years to uphold this view and protect the most vulnerable is causing untold harm.
The Christian Party welcomes those who are willing to support our endeavours and plans to stand in the forthcoming Scottish Election.
