A Stornoway teenager is shaving off all his hair to raise cash for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.

Thirteen-year-old Declan Cunningham will go bald for the charity effort after attending the Glasgow hospital for a hip complaint for two years.

Now he wants to repay them by raising funds for Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

He hopes to raise enough to buy enough for a computer tablet or new toys to occupy sick children while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Declan said: "I am getting all my hair cut off - down to the bone.

"I want to do this because they helped me."

He said it was sad seeing other children suffering, many with serious conditions.

His granny, Joan, said: "Staff there were fantastic.

"It was absolutely wonderful how attentive and good they were. They looked after Declan very well and were very supportive."

Declan is getting his hair shaved off at the White Rooms hairdressers in Stornoway this week. Sponsor forms are available in the Cearns Community Shop.
