Photos: Ceremony commemorates 100 years of Lewis War Memorial

A special service held on Saturday marked 100 years since the unveiling of the Lewis
War Memorial.
Rev William Heenan from St Columba’s Church, Stornoway, led the service at the monument
at Cnoc nan Uan which will also featured laying of wreaths on behalf of the community
by Lord Lieutenant, Iain Macaulay, and comhairle convenor, Kenny Macleod.
Mr Macleod said: “It is important that we mark important events in our history, such
as the centenary of the Lewis War Memorial.”
He added the event provided an opportunity to reflect and remember the people who
“paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.”
