Stornoway Satire Celtic Supporters Club is fundraising for the families of the Barra teenagers caught up in the Manchester bombing.

Proceeds from tonight’s quiz and curry night will be donated to them.

The fundraising event in Stornoway Sea Angling Club is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions’ victory when Celtic won the European Cup in the Lisbon final in Portugal, on 25 May 1967, defeating Inter Milan 2-1.

All but one member of the 15-man squad was born within 10 miles of Celtic Park in Glasgow with the 12th player born another 20 miles away.

This evening’s event was initially organised to raise money for club funds.

A spokesman said: “After the events on Monday all proceeds are now going to help the families of the girls from Barra injured in the Manchester attacks.”

He added: “As part of a small island community we are trying to help any way we can after the awful atrocity which happened on Monday night.”

Entry at door is £5 and the event commences at 7pm.
