CBE for land stalwart

David Cameron of Tarbert, Harris, has received a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours for his services towards community land ownership.

The 68-year-old is a director of Community Land Scotland - the body representing buyout estates - and was its chairman for its first five years.

Mr Cameron is a strong believer in the concept of community landownership where the people are in favour. He was involved in the community purchase of North Harris - where he lives - in 2003 and its subsequent development.
