Postmistress Jannette Boyd from Castlebay has been invited to King Charles III’s Coronation Concert.

The Royal invite was sent to Jannette by the Lord Lieutenant of the Outer Hebrides for her charity work with the Fisherman’s Mission.

Jannette is an honorary agent for the Fishermen’s Mission, which provides emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families.

Jannette will swap her view of beautiful Kisimul Castle at Castlebay to the equally impressive view of the larger Windsor Castle, near London.

The Coronation Concert, on Sunday 7 May, is being held within the grounds of Windsor Castle on the East Lawn, which has never been used for a public event before.

Entertainers will include Take That, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings, classical-soul composer Alexis Ffrench and the Coronation Choir, a group created from the nation’s keenest community choirs and amateur singers from across the UK.

Jannette Boyd said: “It was an unexpected surprise and honour to be invited to the Coronation Concert.

“I am really looking forward to listening to all of the great performers and being within the grounds of Windsor Castle. It’s a special occasion that I am delighted to be a part of.”

Jannette became the Postmistress for Castlebay Post Office and tearoom in February last year. She will be decorating the place with a few Coronation decorations for the historic occasion.

The King’s mother, Queen Eiliabeth herself had sailed to Barra on the Royal Yacht Britannia and enjoyed picnics on Vatersay.
