Carloway FC runners-up in Highland Amateur Cup 3/8/14

Carloway FC are runners-up in this year’s Highland Amateur Cup, the first time the Lewis side has competed in the final.

Fraser Macleod opened the scoring with a header into the net for Carloway some 13 minutes into the game on Saturday at the Caledonian Stadium in Inverness.

The islanders were dominant at the start, holding onto their 1-0 lead well into the second half.

But Avoch fought back with an equaliser, then took the lead some 20 minutes before the end.

Full time score was 2- 1 for Avoch which has now won the trophy for half of the ten times they made the final.

Carloway team captain Donald Mackay won the Man of the Match Award.

Carloway now look forward to taking on West Side in the final of the Eilean an Fhraoich cup on Friday.
