Careless driving

Norman Nicolson of Lemreway, South Lochs, has been fined £200 for careless driving.

Stornoway Sheriff Court heard the 59-year-old was driving at Willowglen in Stornoway when his vehicle strayed across the centre line onto the wrong side of the road.

An oncoming vehicle - which recorded the incident on its dashcam - was forced to swerve to avoid a crash said procurator fiscal Robert Weir.

As well as the financial penalty Sheriff David Sutherland imposed three penalty points on his licence.
