Careless driver

An islander who caused a smash when he did not see an oncoming vehicle in time has admitted careless driving.

Alexander Gillies from Westside Lewis failed to keep proper observation when making a right hand turn across the opposite carriageway at a junction.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged, procurator fiscal Karen Smith told the Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Emergency services were also summoned but no-one suffered serious injuries during the February incident, she said.

Gillies received three penalty points.
