A motorist has been fined after driving too fast and crashing into a fence.

Stornoway Sheriff Curt heard Sean Angus lost control of his vehicle after coming round a bend at excessive speed. The vehicle steered to the other side of the road, mounted the verge and collided with fencing before landing up in a field.

Both vehicle and fence were damaged in the incident which occurred last summer.

Sheriff David Sutherland fined him £300.

Six penalty points were imposed on Angus, whose address was given as Keneth Street, Stornoway, which - under the totting up procedure - resulted in him losing his licence for six months.
