A motorist who failed to keep a proper lookout and caused a collision has been fined £300.

William Macleod, 24, of Lister Place, Stornoway, pleaded guilty to careless driving when he appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court.

Procurator fiscal Karen Smith said Macleod misjudged the speed of an oncoming car and failed to make a right turn in time.

Both vehicles were damaged in the smash at the junction between Goathill Road and Perceval Road on 21 May.

Sheriff David Sutherland fined him £300 to be paid at £25 a week. He also imposed four penalty points.
