A house has been damaged after a car crashed into it.

The vehicle careered off the road and smashed into the property at Tong, near Stornoway.

It ended up taking out a lower part of a privately-owned ex-council residence at Ford Terrace by Tong corner shortly before 2am on Sunday.

The driver lost control of the car on the way into town and faces possible prosecution.

A police spokesman said there was an “one vehicle road traffic collision off the B895 near Tong when a car left the road and collided with a house.”

He added: “The three occupants of the car were taken to Western Isles Hospital for observations.

“No-one was reported to have been injured as a result of the collision.

“Whilst there was significant damage caused to the property, no-one within the address was injured.

“A report regarding the matter will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
