Two men were taken to hospital following a car crash on in North Uist.

A Peugeot and a Ford C-Max collided on a single track stretch of the North Ford causeway route which links North Uist and Benbecula.

Emergency services attended at the scene by Grimsay after 4.30pm on Tuesday, said Police Scotland.

Both drivers were taken to the Benbecula hospital for treatment but neither were seriously injured.

The road was closed to allow a recovery truck to remove the smashed vehicles.

Long tailbacks of traffic built up as a result of congestion of vehicles on the road.
