A Lewis man who grew cannabis plants has been jailed for one year.

Scott Cormack of Aird, Point, was due to go on trial but he pleaded guilty to the offence of producing cannabis at an interim hearing last month.

He also admitted a charge of possessing cannabis.

Cormack appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court for sentencing.

Sheriff David Sutherland sent him to prison for the offences which occurred in February 2016.

The sheriff instructed Cormack’s drug associated equipment to be confiscated.
