Cancelled ferry is back in action 28/3/14

Passengers who were told the MV Lord of the Isles’ voyage to Barra and South Uist was cancelled drove hours out of their way for an alternative sea crossing - only to learn the ship sailed after all.

This morning (Fri) Cal Mac said the vessel would not undertake her afternoon voyage out of Oban due to “technical reasons.”

News that the issue was resolved fixed sooner than expected came too late for many people who drove the long way round - up via Skye to travel on the MV Clansman over to North Uist, then to head south down through Benbecula and South Uist.

Cal Mac is putting on a special late ferry to take the detoured traffic on the last sea link to Barra late tonight.
