All Western Isles ferry services are cancelled this afternoon and evening due to rough seas and a force eight gale.

Sailings on Thursday are also liable to weather disruption.

The MV Loch Seaforth is storm bound in Ullapool. Her Thursday’s morning run out of Stornoway will not operate. Other sailings

The next sailing for Barra - Oban will be on Friday, weather permitting. A high swell is affecting the coast and an assessment of the sea state will be reviewed tomorrow.

The MV Hebrides tied up in Lochmaddy after arriving in the late morning. She now hopes to resume sailings on the North Uist - Skye - Tarbert route at 11.50am tomorrow.

However, Thursday’s timetable risks disruption from high winds.

The MV Loch Alainn completed one run to Eriskay and back to Barra in rough seas. All other sailings were suspended.

The Lochboisdale - Mallaig service is already cancelled due to the ship being repaired.
