CalMac warns the MV Lord of the Isles ferry may be disrupted today with a band of
strong winds forecast to pass through the vessel’s area of operation between South
Uist and Mallaig this afternoon. If any disruption due to weather occurs the ship
is likely to be delayed rather than face a sailing cancellation.
Barra ferry, MV Isle of Lewis has been affected by a fault fuel pump. The ship has
been delayed in Oban for repairs and will resume service this afternoon.
MV Hebrides is running an hour late this afternoon after problems with a broken down
vehicle on her car deck at the berth at Uig in Skye. Arrival at Lochmaddy will be
delayed and the rest of the day’s timetable will run behind schedule. As a result,
the timetabled 11.10pm sailing departing Uig has been cancelled. To allow crew compensatory
hours of rest the vessel will overnight in Skye. MV Hebrides will re-position in
the morning and service will operate, as timetabled, departing Lochmaddy at 8am.
Meanwhile, an amended timetable is operating on the Skye triangle route until the
end of Tuesday to accommodate people travelling from the Eilean Dorcha Festival.
