Delays in Cal Mac's drydocking schedule means changes to the fleet's annual overhaul arrangements.

Additional work required on the MV Isle of Mull threw the original plans out. The ship only returned from the Aberdeen dock today.

It creates a knock-on delay for the rejigged plans which sees the MV Hebrides leaving the Uig triangle to cover other routes.

She is being sent to Ardrossan while the MV Caledonian Isles heads off for a three-week drydock.

Then the vessel is pencilled in to take over the Clansman on the Oban - Castlebay - Lochboisdale route.

The MV Hebridean Isles and the MV Isle of Arran take up the Skye - North Uist - Harris sailings from Sunday.

The MV Isle of Lewis operated the Hebrides' route on Saturday. The vessel had to take Harris-bound passengers to Stornoway as the lack of water under the keel at low tides would have made berthing impossible at Tarbert. Foot passengers were bussed from Stornoway to Tarbert.

Cal Mac said delays to the Isle of Mull threw original arrangements out and the schedule has been altered to keep services running.
