Establishing the feedback panel is part of Cal Mac’s contract to run the ferry service.

It has also appointed Brian Fulton as a community engagement director.

Mr Fulton said the panel should focus on the high level strategic issues “facing their communities, and we also see it as a great opportunity to bring together a group of people who are knowledgeable and well-informed about the network as a whole and not just their own area or route.”

Its first meeting is due to take place in early October.

Ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) is inviting islanders to apply to join a new panel aimed at being the “voice of the communities” on strategic ferry service issues.

Twelve members plus an independent, paid, chairperson will sit on the community board which will met twice a year.
