Blustery winds risk hampering a long distance charity cycle taking place this week.

Over 50 people plan to pedal the 170 miles from the Butt of Lewis down to Castlebay on Barra, to raise cash for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The group will set off on Wednesday morning and, weather and ferries permitting, hope to arrive in Castlebay on Friday.

A forecast of strong breeze with gusts up to 40 mph may pose difficulties for the riders.

The Butt to Barra team have set up a fundraising webpage at www.justgiving.com Butt2Barra where people wishing to donate can click on the name of any cyclist.
